Alienware Area-51 7500

Yah.. this is the best gaming PC Desktop

Want to get the most out of Windows Vista? Alienware can help. Since Windows Vista is the first Windows operating system that can scale to a computer’s hardware capabilities, how much you get out of Windows Vista is directly linked to how much technological force is packed into your PC. No problem. The latest graphics, processors, hard drives and memory are a given on any new Alienware system. So, while your neighbor with the conventional PC is marveling over the updated version of "Solitaire", you'll be busy enjoying essential Windows Vista features like DirectX 10, Aero, and Instant Search in their full glory on your new Alienware.

Pricey system has good looks, and its liquid-cooled, overclocked CPU offers plenty of horsepower.

The impressive Alienware Area-51 7500 delivers strong performance and excellent features. At $6007 (as of July 11, 2007), it's the most expensive quad-core model we've tested thus far. You get a lot for your money, though. Our review system carried 2GB of 800-MHz DDR2 memory and Intel's 2.66-GHz Core 2 Extreme QX6700 quad-core processor, overclocked by Alienware to 3.2 GHz and kept stable with liquid cooling. It's the first overclocked Area-51 7500 system to come through the PC World Test Center. Alienware began overclocking the line only in March 2007; the company previously reserved such CPU tweaks for its premium ALX machines, in which pricey extras like liquid cooling and 1066-MHz RAM are standard. Alienware's adjustments helped the Area-51 7500 to a WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 125, a mark on a par with those of other overclocked gaming PCs and just four points behind the fastest PC we've tested to date, CyberPower's Gamer Infinity Ultimate

The Area-51 7500 uses two 768MB EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX graphics boards in SLI mode, providing plenty of muscle and Direct X 10 gaming capabilities under its preinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. The Area-51 7500 averaged 165 frames per second on our Doom 3 test, versus the average of 143 fps set by the rest of the gaming PCs we tested. It averaged 187 fps on our Far Cry test at the same resolution settings, tying with the Gateway FX530XT but falling well behind the 202-fps result of the Dell XPS 720, which was equipped with a 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX board.

Our test system had plenty of storage, as well. Two 150GB, 10,000-rpm Western Digital Raptor hard drives were installed in a RAID 0 configuration, and the PC also had a 250GB, 7200-rpm Seagate drive. An additional unoccupied internal drive bay can accommodate yet another hard drive.

The Area-51 7500 has Alienware's signature imposing black case, with clean lines and a sizable footprint; unfortunately, its shiny plastic tends to show fingerprints easily. Closing the side panel entails maneuvering several metal tags into place before the panel clicks back into position. The fans in the case's removable side are powered by touch contacts instead of cables, so you can easily remove the side panel without having to unplug the fans first.

The system has backlit, front-mounted ports, including two USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire port, and microphone and headphone sockets. The system's Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card pairs well with the bundled Logitech z-5300E 5.1 (280-watt) speakers. Our test system also featured Logitech's G15 gaming keyboard, which has a small LCD panel for showing game info or song titles, and Logitech's G5 mouse, which lets you add or remove small weights from its underside to get the right feel for your hand. The mouse has three settings for tracking sensitivity, with two buttons below the scroll wheel for attaining fast or precise movement.

Sharp 52inch LCD TV prototype

Sharp unveiled a prototype TV on Wednesday that's packed with technologies that could appear soon in its products. The wall-mounted TV is just 2 centimeters thick and gets its signal via a high-speed wireless link, meaning the only cable required is for the power.

The prototype, based on Sharp's most cutting-edge technologies, is built around a 52-inch LCD (liquid crystal display) panel from Sharp's Kameyama factory in Japan, one of the most advanced LCD production plants in the world.

The high-definition screen has a high contrast ratio of 100,000:1. This provides a clear, vivid image even in bright rooms, and color reproduction that's 50 percent greater than that provided by an NTSC signal, so that colors from digital sources appear deeper and more life-like.

The set has a 4 millisecond response time, which means it can display fast-moving images smoothly, and an estimated power consumption of 140kWh (kilowatt hours) per year, about half that of Sharp's current LCD TVs.

The prototype shown on Wednesday weighs about 25 kilograms. The display driver circuitry is built into the display case, although there is no built-in tuner. A high-defintion signal was delivered to the set via a prototype "millimeter-wave" transmission system.

The link uses frequencies similar to those used in satellite broadcasting to transmit a high-bandwidth signal of several tens of megabits per second over a distance of about 30 centimeters. Because millimeter waves require line-of-sight, the signal was cut off when a hand or other object was brought between the transmitter and television.

Sharp doesn't have a schedule for commercializing the display. Some of the technologies could start appearing in Sharp TV sets in the near future, although others are earlier in development and won't appear for a few years.

Samsung LN-T4061

Excellent TV for digital signal. Even for watching regular tv signal (480p), it is much better than my old sony projection tv. But it has very poor quality on analog singal, which I guess no one cares nowadays. The menu is kind of useless, did not give me much help on what all those setting for. They remain mysterious for me. Although, it has PIP function, but I could not use it. I did not have a HD box, and I connect my basic digital box, and cable directly to the TV. I tried to watch two channels in PIP, and learned the TV does not support it in this connection. If you have a HD box, and connects to the component input on the TV, you should be able to use PIP (as least the menu says so).
Samsung's 40" LN-T4061F LCD delivers the full brilliance of HDTV with décor-enhancing style -and industry-leading value. Enjoy the incredible detail of 1080p resolution, the endless color range of 16-bit processing, the finely nuanced tones of a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and the quick motion of an 8ms response time. With the amazing SRS TruSurround XT™ system, full-bodied sound comes from two bottom speakers. Three HDMI ports, USB 2.0 and full connectivity lets you add DVDs, camcorders, PCs and a range of other digital devices; HDMI-CEC capability lets you control all CEC-compatible devices with one remote.

Sony DCR-SR300

The DCR Sr300 replaces my Sony Digital 8 and has not disappointed. The HDD uploads via USB cable at impressive speed ( 2 minutes for one hour of video). The file format is recognized by DVD authoring software ( another real time saver). The supplied software is very user friendly and intuitive to use. Video quality is superb. The supplied NP FH60 battery affords 100 minutes recording time; spend the extra $$$ and purchase the NP FH70;however it only supplies 170 minutes of recording time, not the 6 hours stated on the promo (to be fair to Sony, the DCR SR 300 manual clearly makes this point). Have not tested all the fancy features yet, but initial impressions are very positive. Am glad to be unburdened by buying/converting/storing endless tapes. Highly recommend this Camcorder at first blush.

And this is the Manufacture's Description

Take the next step in home video recording with the DCR-SR300 Handycam camcorder. The internal 40GB hard disk drive stores up to 28 hours of video (LP) and easily transfers it to your PC, giving you the freedom to capture more video, easier than ever before. And, you can take amazing 6.1 megapixel still images when you're not shooting video. The 3 megapixel ClearVid CMOS Sensor and Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens with 10x optical/20x digital zoom provide outstanding image quality. And Super SteadyShot optical stabilization reduces blur, giving you crisper pictures. Connect the camcorder to a Handycam Station and you'll be impressed by a new level of multimedia sharing that allows you to download and share video with a TV or PC via a number of interface ports. Or just hit one button and the one touch disc burning transfers your footage to DVD. The DCR-SR300 is more than a camcorder - it's the future of home video recording.

Canon PowerShot A640

Excellent field Camera for advanced photographer

The Cannon a640 is a bit bigger than most other cameras, but when you take into account all the features squeezed into it the size more then justifies its self and also makes it very easy to use even one handed. You can use this camera straight away and then when you have time you can make the most of its numerous advance features. The top quality of photo is more than most people need and even the video is passable for a half decent camcorder. If you have the money and you want great photos then this is the camera for you, it even comes with settings for just about every situation, but even if you hasn’t got one you need then you can set it up manually. The software on it is powerful but simple and the soft for a PC is simple and efficient. You can also buy extra leans for this camera is required.
Dislikes – nothing about the camera, although some of the advance feature weren’t obvious to use, I thought it only coming with 32mb memory card was bad, 32mb isn’t much space at all and would only hold 16 large photos. It also come with recharge point, but not the batteries or charger.

See The Manufacture's Description

The PowerShot A640 bursts with creative options. Use its 10.0 Megapixels to shoot poster size prints with fine detail. Discover new possibilities with the vari-angle LCD and optional accessories.

Print high quality poster size images with all the incredible detail of 10.0 Megapixels. Crop and trim to create new compositions while keeping your photos extra large and razor sharp.

A 4x optical zoom lens gives you the flexibility to frame shots up close or at a distance without sacrificing quality.

The large 2.5" Vari-angle LCD twists in all directions - ideal for self-portraits and creative shots at unusual angles. Night Display mode aids visibility in low light while a selectable Grid Line display helps with composition. A useful 3: 2 ratio overlay indicates the printable area for standard photo prints.

Canon's DIGIC II image processor manages all camera functions and processes images at high speed for excellent responsiveness and extended battery life. iSAPS is a built-in assistant that uses scene information to optimize camera settings before the shot is taken.

Rely on 9-point AiAF to keep even off-center subjects sharply in focus or use FlexiZone AF/AE to manually select a focus point.

21 shooting modes include a full creative zone for manual control and 10 Special Scene modes for tricky lighting conditions including Snow, Beach and Underwater. My Colors allows color effects to be applied to images and movies.

A high-speed ISO 800 setting allows you to shoot correctly exposed images in low light conditions without using a flash. ISO 800 also enables shooting at higher shutter speeds reducing the risk of image blur.

Safety Zoom offers extra zoom magnification without affecting image quality. Use the Digital Tele-Converter for extra reach on every shot - just like adding a teleconverter lens to the camera.

Focus as close as 1cm and capture all the intricate detail of tiny subjects.

Shoot extra long 30fps VGA quality movies with full audio. View them on the camera's LCD screen or connect to a TV or PC for full screen playback
